Transplanted from Accra City, Ghana to Brooklyn at the age of 12, rapper/composer Blitz the Ambassador makes a particular brand of hip-hop, recorded and performed with his live band, and influenced by the High Life sounds he grew up around in Ghana. His debut album, Stereotype [LISTEN HERE], hit Top Ten on the iTunes Hip-Hop chart with no label support, and the video for his song "Breathe" was in rotation on MTV2 this past summer, which led to a MTVU 'Live Sessions' recording featuring John Forte.
He has performed with artists like Nas, The Roots, Mos Def, Akon, Rakim, Slick Rick, Das Racist, and his star is steadily rising. Blitz just released a live record, Stereolive [LISTEN HERE] - a 5 track EP that follows up his debut.. The EP has guests John Forte (of The Fugees fame), Malian singer, Balla Tounkara, as well as Kate Mattison, Bajah, and Tess. This summer, Blitz was hand-chosen by Chuck D to open for Public Enemy on August 15th at the very prestigious live music institution, Central Park Summerstage, in New York City.
